Dr. Coffey boasts an office staff that has been with his practice for an average of 20 years.
A loyal dental office staff is difficult to assemble and even harder to keep. That is why the longevity of Dr. Ed Coffey’s staff, a popular dentist in Encinitas, is such a rare occurrence. Their average tenure? An astonishing twenty years. “I have staff members who may have had to leave me for one reason or another, but they always come back and stay for years and years. I’ve never seen anything quite like it,” says Dr. Coffey. “And I know scores of dentists. ”
Most dentists toil trying to get the right staff members who will gel, and then stay. In fact, dental conventions even offer seminars that teach how to maintain staff. But does Dr. Coffey simply has a knack for it?
Says Barb Campbell who has been with Dr. Coffey for 25 years, “Dr. Coffey is such a kind, fair and generous man, I couldn’t imagine working for anyone else. And he isn’t really trying to be those things, he’s just that way and it comes out in everything he does.”
Anna Marquine, Dr. Coffey’s dental hygienist for 20 years adds, “The doctor has created a very light environment. I have friends who work under extreme pressure. I wouldn’t trade places with them for anything.”
Of course, in Encinitas teeth are the first thing that everyone sees. Can any Encinitas cosmetic dentistry afford to be anything but very serious?
Says Sasha Bivin, a 20-year veteran of Dr. Coffey’s practice, “We’re both highly professional, but also very friendly and caring. That’s what makes it such a great place to work. Dr. Coffey presses the professionalism yet allows us to be fun and light-hearted. The result is happy patients and it’s always a joy to work with people who are happy.”
Fifteen-year staff-member, Suzie Nunes offers, “Our staff has developed a second-nature with each other. We know each other’s roles so perfectly that the level of efficiency is something that the patients can definitely feel—especially if they’ve ever been to other dentists in Encinitas. We’re like a finely-tuned machine. We’ve nearly perfected our service.”
People may think they are coming in for simple teeth whitening, but what they get is teeth whitening Encinitas-style. “It is laid back and comfortable, but highly professional and attentive. It’s really the finest experience of any dentist in Encinitas. Our patients couldn’t be happier and that is due to my remarkable staff,” says Dr. Coffey.

Encinitas Cosmetic Dentistry Offers Big Benefits with Microscopic Technology
Drs. Coffey and Henninger utilize microscopic dentistry to increase precision and grow satisfied patients.
While the technology is highly advanced, the concept is rather simple. The more clearly a dentist can see the miniscule intricacies of a tooth, the more efficient and effective the doctor will be when performing a procedure.
Drs. Coffey and Henninger, each an Encinitas cosmetic dentist with Encinitas Dental Art, recognize the benefits of microscopic dentistry and offer it to their patients.
“There’s really no comparing the level of quality one can achieve,” says Dr. Coffey, a well-known member of Encinitas cosmetic dentistry for more than 26 years. “Not only does the technology drastically enlarge the tiny size of the inside of a tooth, it can also illuminate it. I can see things now I never would have seen before with the naked eye.”
“The benefits are two-fold,” adds Dr. Henninger. “The patients feel good that their procedure has been done perfectly, but there’s also the added benefit of knowing inside myself that nothing was missed. That’s because it virtually can’t be missed.”
A root canal is a good example. The root is like a very thin, tiny straw that holds even smaller debris. The doctor’s objective is to clear away as much debris as possible. What is normally a painstaking task is made infinitely easier when enlarged many times its normal size.
“I get to see it all,” says Lorraine Carter, a patient of Encinitas Dental Art for over 10 years and fan of the Encinitas dentists. “And when the doctor shows me what he was trying to achieve, I can actually look and see that he was successful.”
“That’s the beauty of microscopic dentistry,” Dr. Coffey adds. “When we put the images of their tooth on their own ceiling monitor for them to view, patients get to see what’s going on in their tooth and it gives them a sense of confidence that they’re in good hands. It’s invaluable.”
Wouldn’t all this technology cost more for the patient? “We are competitively priced with any dentist in Encinitas,” offers Sash Bivin, on staff with Encinitas Dental Art for 20 years. “Of course there may be an Encinitas dentist with slightly lower rates, but when one compares the value, the choice becomes a very easy one to make. We’re really operating at the highest levels of Encinitas cosmetic dentistry.”

Encinitas Dentist Known for Giving Patients a New Look, does Same for Practice
After 26 years as one of the most successful Encinitas Dentists, Dr. Ed Coffey changes the name of his practice to Encinitas Dental Art.
Dr. Ed Coffey is an Encinitas Dentist who is practicing what he preaches. After 26 years of recommending that an enhanced look enhances one’s life, he has taken his own advice and changed his practice name to Encinitas Dental Art—it’s a move that comes with new graphic identification and new signage. His office, just north of El Camino Real on Encinitas Boulevard, will bear the new look starting August, 2010.
Those who are used to traveling Encinitas Boulevard and seeing Dr. Coffey’s sign may a bit surprised not to see the name of the popular Encinitas cosmetic dentist. But not to worry. It’s still Dr. Coffey, just new and improved.
Why is Dr. Coffey willing to part with such high recognizability? “There comes a time in the life of every business when you must breathe new life into it,” says Dr. Coffey. “And while I have become perhaps the most recognizable Encinitas Dentist, parting with that name does not concern me. Remarkable service, a kind and attentive staff, a tremendous work ethic, and excellence in dentistry will always bring people to our door. When it comes to their oral health, people will always seek the things that matter most. And that’s when they will find us.”
But why Encinitas Dental Art? Says Dr. Coffey, “It’s not a name I would have chosen for myself if it were not for the comments I receive from my patients. So many of them are amazed at how I diagnose their problem and then subsequently enhance their smile as well as their bite, that many have commented that I’m a true artist at what I do.”
Will anything else about the practice change? “Just one more thing,” says Dr. Coffey. Dr. Chris Henninger has joined Encinitas Dental Art and the Encinitas dental community. After serving for four years in the U.S. Navy where he was responsible for maintaining the dental health of over 1,200 sailors on the USS Boxer, Dr. Henninger brings a wealth of knowledge in general, cosmetic and implant dentistry. He is an active participant in the community and is committed to maintaining up-to-date knowledge in the latest dental procedures and technology. He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Diego Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, as well as the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.

Encinitas Dental Art Restoring Smiles
Encinitas Dental Art has years of experience helping patients achieve their desired smiles utilizing the latest dental implant technology. This case is about how Encinitas dental implant clinic restored the smile of a local patient named Nancy.
Nancy, came to the practice seeking dental implants for her three missing teeth. Encinitas Dental Art helped restore her ability to eat and smile again with confidence. After years of neglect, Nancy was faced with having multiple teeth extracted. If loosing three teeth wasn’t enough, Nancy soon became aware of how difficult it was to continue her normal eating habits. She became very self-conscious and started to avoid eating in social situations. She noticed that her other teeth were starting to shift and it was even affecting the way she smiled.
After learning more about teeth implants on the Internet, Nancy wondered if this could be the solution to her problems. Nancy came to Encinitas Dental Art for an evaluation of her dental problems. After a thorough examination, a customized treatment plan to replace Nancy’s teeth was developed by the experts of Encinitas Dental Art. Nancy chose dental implants to replace her missing teeth because it didn’t require any preparation to any of her other teeth and provided a long lasting solution that wouldn’t be susceptible to dental decay. In Nancy’s case, teeth implants were the optimal solution, as the implants resemble the look and feel of natural teeth. They can be maintained by normal brushing and 8flossing and do not require any special floss threaders or messy denture adhesives as in the case of bridges and dentures.
After the evaluation process at Encinitas Dental Art clinic, Nancy began the implant process. Though the process is very benign, she opted for IV sedation to help manage her dental fear. Three titanium dental implants were placed in her jaw bone. These root form titanium posts served as the foundation for Nancy’s new teeth. Nancy was an excellent candidate for dental implants, but due to the time that she delayed in finding the right dentist to replace her teeth, she lost a little bit of critical bone in her jaw. A small bone graft was placed in the area of her missing teeth and the implants were successfully placed.
Encinitas Dental Art has traditionally referred patients to other offices for the surgical portion of teeth implant process, as is the case with many dentists in the area. However, with the addition of our new dentist, Dr. Christopher Henninger, to Encinitas Dental Art we are able to provide most dental implant services in our office avoiding the hassle of visiting multiple dental offices. Dr. Ed Coffey, a prosthodontist at Encinitas Dental Art, specializes in the restoration of dental implants. This allows us to handle even the most complex dental issues in one location.
After all three dental implants were surgically placed, Nancy entered the healing phase of the process, which normally lasts somewhere between 3 to 6 months. During the healing phase, the bone integrates with the titanium implant creating a stable foundation for prosthetic teeth, or crowns. After the healing phase, Nancy was ready for her new teeth. Impressions were taken of Nancy’s teeth to create the final crowns that were attached to each dental implant. Encinitas Dental Art made the teeth implant process 100% successful.
Nancy couldn’t be happier with the results of her new smile. She is no longer forced to chew with her front teeth and has regained confidence when she smiles. It is not only a joyful event for Nancy but also the entire Encinitas Dental Art team to see her happy with dental implantation.
